What about the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms?

When they wrote the law back in 1791 they could not imagine a gun firing 50 rounds a second, or that crazies would shoot up schools and churches.

The Second Amendment was meant for the meadows of Lexington and Concord, not the insanity of Robb Elementary or Tops store. It was written for Flintlocks not machine guns.

It’s a good law gone bad.

First off, the idea that guns are for personal self defense is a myth. The evening news and cop shows play it up, but being robbed by someone with a handgun is mostly fiction. According to over 30 studies, less than 1% of all gun violence involves a robber with a gun.

It’s bad when it happens but getting stuck up by a mugger is rare.

Over 99% percent of gun-related deaths are homicides, accidents in the home, suicides and mass shootings.

This is what loose gun laws give us. It allows anyone to buy a military assault rifle, walk out the door and start shooting.

It’s getting to be the wild west, only six-shooters are now assault rifles..

The Second Amendment right to a gun will not protect you. Stricter gun control will. Fewer guns in the hands of fewer people, means fewer people getting shot.

Another myth is that we need guns to form a militia to protect us from an evil dictator taking over. Give me a break. Our noble militias today are made up of goose-stepping skinheads wearing swastikas.

They cheer on the dictator, or he cheers them on, as we have seen.

It is the ultimate irony that the buffalo-horned, noose-waving maniacs trying to take over our government are calling themselves militias, when they’re the ones taking over the government!

We need a militia to defend us from the militia. It’s a Catch-22 country.

The big gun club the NRA (No Reasoning Allowed, Not Really Aware) perpetuates this myth defending gun sellers who can sell millions of assault weapons to felons, teen-agers and mental patients. No background check and you’re out the door, loading up.

The truth is, having a gun attracts guns to you, owning a gun makes you less safe, not more. Get rid of them all and it would be a better, safer world.
